JackYes, the goat. While everyone loves him, he belongs to the horses, and vice versa - they're family, the humans, they're visitors.
Sad DetailStanding guard from 4-6AM is Desi. We're in the middle of 7,200 plus flags. He had to stay by my side the entire time, which he's used to, but he was not happy about the time of day, and somehow I felt he was aware of the solemn occasion. I was there with him, yet absent, shooting these flags determined to somehow capture the amazing and overwhelming sight. I was lost in the moment and super focused on what I wanted to achieve, but taking just as much of my attention, was the fact I was listening to each and every name being called over the loudspeaker. The names, represented each by one flag, were the names of the heroes who have lost their lives since 9-11. It was unreal, 7000 plus names, being called out, one by one, by one. I believe these lost souls were first responders, military, or those who put their lives on the line every day so that we can live in this terrific country they way our forefathers intended us to live. There wasn't another soul out there with us I was aware of that morning of 11Sept16. P.S. That morning I decided to pick one flag and shoot just it - I randomly selected a young man, Cody Suggs - Army SPC. I was hoping to be able to get his flag to his family, but it was spoken for already. Now I'd like to get images to them.
Love Between UsOne of my favorite shots of this beautiful couple, and their Sophie and Phoebe. #happyplace
