Flags of Valor
Flags of Valor From 6-11Sept16, over seven thousand flags stood on the hillside of Art Hill in historic Forest Park, in St. Louis, MO. Each flag signified one fallen military hero since 9/11/01. I was there at 4AM on the morning of September 11th, to capture the utter quiet and stillness. In the distance I could hear being called out over the loud speaker, each name of each victim, my understanding is they started the reading at midnight. It was surreal, so sad, yet so beautiful. I shared this on my Facebook page, as of today, it's been shared 362 times with 848 likes! No one takes their lives for granted, no one wants to forget. My deepest respect, sympathy and condolences go out to these families.

In the still, standing tall. This shot is a bit soft, yet the impact is all but soft...I was looking left, turn my head right, there were just as many that way. A Fallen American Hero...RIPArmy SPC Cody Suggs - Thank you, and your family, for your service, giving the ultimate sacrifice for the honor of this country, our rights and the freedom we so enjoy and don't appreciate nearly enough - for that I'm so sorry. Rest in Peace.
In The Square, Looking Out
In The Square, Looking OutOn a neighbors rooftop deck, looking over the 140 year old plus neighborhood, Lafayette Square. LS is registered on the National Historic List of Places. Looking out you see downtown St. Louis, the Arch, and Busch stadium aglow.

Aglow in the Dark - Parish Church of St. James
Aglow in the Dark - Parish Church of St. JamesTHIS was a challenge. It was pitch dark, I was alone - I couldn't see my settings; I'm so thrilled with the result here. It was wonderful feat for me - I hope to do it again sometime soon - maybe in '17. This is a gorgeous place - I could not believe my good fortune when I came upon it just after sunset. I was hoping I could figure out how to pull what was left of the ambient light...I hope you like it, too. Sandy's Parish, Bermuda
In the Night, In the Square
In the Night, In the SquareOur neighborhood used to be a Civil War camp - do you see the ghost, perhaps a young soldier. Park Avenue St. Louis Style...it's like a movie set. — at Lafayette Square Historic District.
A Bike Ride
A Bike RideHeading deep into the bush, yet another sight out of our window. I love this image. Somewhere deep in Senegal, Africa.
Dust to Dawn...
Dust to Dawn...Dirt has never been prettier...it's red (and DRY) in Sénegal, which makes for the most beautiful sunsets! I'm sorry to say, this was the only night I was able to get any pictures of it, every other evening we were driving back to this place from the bush. Here, I'm standing on top of the 9-10' wall you see there. I was terrified, until I started shooting that is, (then I forgot) especially because I was holding my camera, and trying to balance. You wouldn't believe the ladder I found to climb up on. I felt SO lucky to find one there, I could not believe my eyes! Why did I NOT take a picture of it?? It was handmade, of course.

And Nights End with the MoonTo bed at One AM, up by 3:30 to capture this moon and these glorious trees put there for me. Amazing moments alone, always grateful.
